NYS Department of Health - Private Wells: The NYS Department of Health’s website has information and fact sheets on private wells, well testing, restoring wells after flooding, and more.

Private Drinking Water Wells (EPA): This webpage has information from the EPA on private drinking water wells, groundwater, and more.

Recommended Water Test Fact Sheet from the the Bureau of Water Supply Protection, NYS Department of Health, lists baseline tests that should be performed for new private residential wells, and addional tests that may be suggested by certain water conditions or by nearby activities.

Test Your Well: Protect Your Family’s Water: This brochure from the NYS Department of Health has information on protecting your water, when to test your water and how to get it tested, and how to inspect and maintain your well/water system.

National Groundwater Association: Provide education and outreach on groundwater, including events and training.

Well Water Contractor - Search Wizard: This search engine allows you to find registered well water contractors in NYS. To search, choose your county of residence and click “Select County.” You can then search by service using the drop down menu. Once you’ve chosen the service, click “start” and a list of certified contractors with addresses and phone numbers will pop up.

NSF International: NSF is a third party, non-profit certification organization that sets performance standards for water treatment devices. They run an independent product testing program, and require all products to meet annual re-certification requirements.

USGS Web Soil Survey: This database allows you to look up information on the soil type of your property, including how well it drains and the depth to the water table.


NY Certified Water Testing Labs

NY Certified Water Testing Labs - Certified Commercial Labs that accept samples from the public, and perform fee-for-service analysis; listed by county with fields of analysis for which the lab is certified by the Wadsworth Center of the NYS Department of Health.
